Open to Nevada residents or students

K–3, K–5 and K–5 under 300
6 rounds, Time Control Game/25, d5

K–8, K–12 and K–12 under 800
5 rounds, Time Control Game/25, d5 rounds 1 & 2, Game/45, d5 (rounds 3 – 5)

Students in grades K-3 rated under 300 may prefer to play in the K-5 under 300 section and those in grades 6-8 rated under 800 in the K-12 under 800 section. Players may play in any section above the one they qualify for in order to complete school teams or to compete for the invitational tournaments.

Individual and Team Trophies will be Awarded!

All players will receive a participation medal.

The winner of the K-12 section will represent Nevada at the Denker Tournament of High School Champions in Orlando August 3-6. The Winner of the K-8 section will represent Nevada in the Barber Tournament of K-8 Champions. Nevada Chess provides a subsidy for these representatives.

The top scoring boy and top scoring girl in each section receives free entry to the International Youth Championship in Las Vegas June 15 – 16. Restricted to players who will be 14 or under on June 16.

Entry Fee:
$40 if received by April 1. Late Registration $50 by 7 p.m. April 12, $70 later.

Schedule: Round 1 starts at 9:30 a.m. and subsequent rounds start about 15 minutes after the previous round ends. Lunch is included and will be served between 11:30 and 1:00. Players registering after 8:30 may not be paired for round 1.

US Chess Membership required: $20 for new or renewing members with entry.

Doolittle Community Center  is located on J street at Lake Mead Boulevard. Enter from J Street. Additional parking is available across the street at the Democracy Preparatory Academy.
