19th Annual Sands Regency Western States Open, October 19-21, 2001

The Sands Regency Hotel, Barbara Woodward, and especially Jerry Weikel and his family make this annual chess event happen every October. For the 19th edition, 385 players, including 11 GMs and 10 IMs, competed in eight different sections. At the end of six rounds, GMs Alexander Onischuk, Alexander Ivanov, and IM Enrico Sevillano tied for first in the Open Section.

Nevada players in the winner circle included Edwin Straver in the Expert Section and Limuel Coloma in the Under 1600 Section.

There was a bookstore, free game analysis by GM Larry Evans, simultaneous exhibitions, and the whole setting of a weekend chess festival!

Below is a list of Nevada players results. My apologies for any missed Nevada players.
