A new place to play chess in Las Vegas

There is a new chess affiliate in Las Vegas. Bridgeopolis, at the corner of Durango and Tropicana, will be running chess tournaments and possibly a summer chess camp. The next tournament will be Friday, June 3 at 5:30 PM. Space is limited, so advanced registration is recommended. Visit www.bridgeopolis.club for more information.

State Scholastic will be live streamed

From 9:30 AM until approximately 6PM on Saturday, March 19th, the Nevada State Scholastic Chess Championship will be live streamed on www.twitch.tv/1more1time with commentary by FM Tom Brownscombe. On demand video of the stream will be available for 2 weeks after the tournament at www.twitch.tv/1more1time/videos. Anyone who is interested in the tournament is welcome to join the stream.

Nevada State Scholastic to be held online on March 19th

Due to concerns regarding covid-19, the 2022 Nevada State Scholastic Chess Championships will once again be held online. The tournament will take place on Saturday, March 19 on chess.com. The winners of the High School (9-12), Middle School (6-8), and Elementary (K-5) sections will qualify for the Denker, Barber, and Rockefeller tournaments, respectively. Trophies will be mailed to participants approximately 3 to 4 weeks after the conclusion of the tournament.

New Division for the States Cup Chess League

The States Cup Chess League is considering forming a lower division league this spring with a maximum team average rating in the 1800 to 1600 range.
